FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Where are you based?

A: I’m based in Boone, North Carolina. I’m lucky to call the mountains my home.

Q: What is your photography style?

A: Unscripted and candid. My goal is to capture true moments. I generally like to shoot in outdoor settings with natural lighting with nature as my backdrop. So I’m very comfortable with rural areas, mountain overlooks, etc. I can also photograph indoor events as well.

Q: What if I feel awkward on camera?

A: No worries. I’ve got you! I won’t force you to do anything you don’t want to do. I want the experience to be as natural and as authentic to you as possible.

Q: Do you travel?

A: Yes! I do not charge for travel over 90 miles from my zip code. Once we get in touch, I’ll quote you an estimate for travel costs. Please note that weddings out of state will have different requirements.

Q: How far in advance should we make our booking?

A: For smaller weddings, I recommend no less than 6 months but sometimes you’re just ready to say “I do” or you want to elope as quickly as possible. Reach out to me and see if your ideal date is still available.

Q: How do you accept payments?

A: I accept cash, checks, or Venmo.

Q: Do you offer longer elopement sessions?

A: YES. Just because you’re eloping, doesn’t mean we can’t celebrate the occasion in a big way. It’s your time to shine! This isn’t just an exchange of vows and rings. This is a PARTAAAY. We can do multiple outfit changes, pop champagne popping, and have a pizza picnic at a gorgeous overlook.

Q: Do you offer second shooter services?

A: At this time, I do not. I specialize in small weddings and I’m SUPER confident I can capture your day solo.

Second shooters are best suited for:

  • People who have over 100 guests at their wedding.
  • People with a very large family or wedding party.
  • Large venues (or if your partner’s getting ready location further away from yours).

Q: How long will it take for you to deliver your photos?

A: For portraits and engagement sessions, please allow a turnaround time of 14 days. For elopements and weddings, please allow a turnaround time of 60 days. I know you’re eager to see your photos, so a sneak peak will be sent to you within 7 days.

Q: Can I print your photos?

A: Absolutely! Once they hit your inbox, they’re yours to print, upload, frame, and share. I only ask that you do not edit or sell your photos.

Q: Do you shoot JPEG or RAW?

A: I shoot RAW images so I have more control over the final product.

Q: What happens if it rains?

A: No problem! Unless the weather makes it impossible to take pictures, I can still shoot outside with clear umbrellas or we can move indoors. I highly recommend coordinating a backup plan with your venue or wedding day planner.

Q: What if our wedding gets cancelled or we need to postpone?

A: Provided that your new date is available, I can still photograph your wedding. For 12 months from your original date, I’m still yours at no extra cost.

Q: What happens if you get sick or unable to attend?

A: I’ll do everything I can to find a back up. I’m part of a network of equally capable photographers.

Q: This all sounds really great! How do I book you?

A: Shoot me an email and I’ll respond within 48 hours with a few questions or thoughts. If you’re ready to book, I’ll hold your date once you provide a 25% retainer.  If you’re nearby, we can meet for coffee and chat. If you’re out of town, we can schedule a phone call or virtual call. For thirty minutes, I’m yours and we can talk about anything you want!
